The State Flag of Colorado
Colorado entered the Union on Aug. 1, 1876, as the 38th state. Known for its mineral resources and livestock ranching, Colorado by the 1990s had a diversified economy with substantial light-industrial development and a growing tourist industry based on its scenic and recreational attractions. The name of the state is taken from the Colorado River, which was named by Spanish explorers and means ìreddish colored.î
The flag of Colorado consists of three horizontal stripes of equal width; the top and bottom stripes are blue, and the middle stripe white. On top of these stripes sits a circular red "C", filled with a golden disk. The blue is meant to represent the skies, the gold represents the sun, white representing the snowcapped mountains and the red representing the earth.
Our version of this flag is made of light-weight polyester for durability and is 3' by 5'. |
