The State Flag of Maryland (Old Line State)
Home to Annapolis, the US Naval Academy and the first dental school, Maryland has made its mark in academia. Maryland entered the Union on April 28, 1788, as the seventh of the 13 original states. The state is named for Henrietta Maria, the wife of Charles I of England.
The flag of Maryland consists of the heraldic banners of the family of George Calvert, 1st Baron Baltimore. It is the only state flag in the United States to be based on British heraldry.
Our version of this flag is made of light-weight polyester for durability. This large 3 foot by 5 foot flag has a reinforced hoist side, with 2 metal grommets. |
