The State Flag of Montana (Big Sky State)
Montana entered the Union on Nov. 8, 1889, as the 41st state. Montana is Spanish for "mountain" and their state seal also contains the Spanish words "oro y plata" (gold and silver). Want to see big snowflakes? The biggest one ever recorded was in Montana and was about 15 inches wide. The average square mile of land contains 1.4 elk, 1.4 pronghorn antelope, and 3.3 deer. (I guess there aren't enough people to even count!)
The flag of Montana consists of the image of the Montana state seal centered on a blue field. Within the seal, a plow, shovel, and pick rest in a field in front of the Great Falls of the Missouri River. The ribbon contains the state motto, "Oro y plata".
Our version of this flag is made of light-weight polyester for durability. It is a large 3 foot by 5 foot flag, and has a reinforced hoist side, with 2 metal grommets. |
